A car accident in Tennessee claimed a pair of lives, and now the driver accused of causing it is facing charges.
Both of the people who were killed were passengers in the vehicle. The driver was 31 years old, and he survived, but a 24-year-old passenger and a 26-year-old passenger both passed away.
The wreck happened on a Sunday, at roughly 4:45 a.m., according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. It was on Carters Creek Pike. Though police are still investigating and more details could come out, they have said that the car was going south when it left the road, driving off of the right side. There, it slammed into a ditch and then a number of trees.
A man who lived across the street from the wreck quickly left his house to find out what happened. He was the second person to arrive. Another car had stopped and that driver was busy calling emergency services. The second man looked into the car, and he said one passenger was already dead. The driver, who was injured in the wreck, was slumped over. He said he could not see the other passenger.
Once police arrived, they were able to smash a window and help the driver out. Though he was hurt, witnesses reported that he was able to stand at the crash scene. He’s now being charged with vehicular homicide.
